After the knitting and the tagging of each of the 1,000 angels with a card saying "Please take me home - wishing you peace and joy this Christmas from Church Road Methodist Church", they were distributed at 4.00 a.m. today. Why 4.00 a.m. you may ask? Well like the Angels coming to the Shepherds, people are asleep and it gave them a lovely surprise when they woke. Having surveyed the areas, chosen sites and street furniture that was easy to attach angels to, the areas were divided and teams of two each given their patch to leave the Angels. Most chose rubber bands through the loops on the heads of the Angels as the preferred means of attachment and within the hour people were gathering at Church for a well-earned cooked breakfast and back to bed by 6.30 a.m. for some! By 4.00 p.m. today all of the hundreds of Angels had been taken home by local people. Others chose to watch the comments and 'many likes' came rolling in on Facebook. Some of the comments are quite moving and tell how the Angels are now in homes and on Christmas trees. We hope people will continue to tell us about their Angels and that people will feel welcome to come and join us at any of Christmas celebrations.
